About the Producer

Discover the rich and comforting flavours of this exceptional Indonesian single origin coffee from the volcanic highlands surrounding Mount Ijen in East Java. With tasting notes of cherry, vanilla and almond, this specialty coffee offers a beautifully balanced cup with sweet fruit character, smooth nuttiness and a lingering vanilla sweetness.

Suitable for espresso, filter coffee, cafetière and bean-to-cup machines, it delivers a clean and approachable profile while showcasing the unique terroir of one of Indonesia's most fascinating coffee-growing regions.

About the Coffee

This coffee is produced and exported by Kevenka, a progressive coffee company founded by brothers Kevin and Kenny Soewondo in Surabaya, East Java. What began as a small café has evolved into a respected operation focused on sourcing, processing and exporting high-quality Indonesian specialty coffee.

Working with a network of up to 500 smallholder farmers across the fertile slopes surrounding Mount Ijen, Kevenka combines innovative processing techniques with meticulous quality control to produce coffees with exceptional consistency and character.

The region benefits from mineral-rich volcanic soils, high elevations and a unique climate that supports the development of complex flavours and outstanding cup quality.

Processing

Ripe coffee cherries are hand-picked and delivered to Kevenka's processing centre in Botolinggo village, where they undergo rigorous quality checks before processing begins.

The cherries are carefully washed and sorted by density and colour to ensure only the highest quality fruit is selected. Drying takes place over 11–13 days, allowing the coffee to gradually reach optimal moisture levels. During periods of high humidity, drying is completed using a Pinhalense mechanical dryer at temperatures below 40°C to maintain cup clarity and stability.

Following drying, the coffee undergoes multiple stages of sorting, including density separation, screen grading, gravity table sorting and colour selection before final quality control checks and export preparation.
