About the Producer
Mimba Estate was established in 1995 by Joseph Meila. Care is taken to preserve topsoil, with mainly organic compost-based fertilizer and mulch applied to reduce weed growth and promote water retention. Selective hand-picking of ripe cherry is emphasized at harvest time; the stringent sorting and meticulous processing that follows helps produce the highest quality possible.
The 120 hectare farm is situated between 1400 and 1700 masl, with plantings of Bourbon and Kent varieties.
This fully washed lot is 100% N39 variety, a Bourbon strain developed by the Tanzania Coffee Research Institute. There is a cherry floatation process prior to pulping to select the highest quality cherries for processing. The classic fully washed process includes a fermentation followed by sun drying on raised beds.
